This is a distillation of information found in Root Tantra of Tibetan Medicine:
In the centre (of the mandala) is the "City of Medicine" called Tanadhug (lit. beautiful to behold).
In this city there is a palace made of five different precious substances, and is decorated with various types of precious medicinal jewels.
These Medicinal jewels cure the 404 disorders of
Loong, Tripa, Baekan, and Dhenpa.
They act as Cool medicine against Hot,
And, Warm medicine against Cold disorders.
They eliminate the 1008 kinds of interfering forces,
And, fulfil all wishes and needs.
This city is surrounded by Saffron Meadows and filled with the fragrance of incense.
Medicinal stones and salts are found in the rocks.
At the Centre of the Inconceivable palace, on the jewel throne of Lapis Lazuli, is seated the Medicine Buddha, The Supreme Healer, King of Aquamarine Light.
This Medicine Buddha is in a meditative concentration called
"The King of Medicine," which alleviates the 404 disorders.
In this meditation, hundreds of thousands of coloured rays are emitted from his heart in all ten directions.
These rays eliminate all the disorders of the three mental poisons that originate from ignorance (i.e. Delusion, Aversion, Attachment), and then return back to its heart.
Then the Medicine Buddha emitted hundred of thousands of coloured rays to the ten directions from his tongue, eliminating the defects of negative speech of all sentient beings in the ten directions, and the rays then return to his tongue.
